Crooked Creek is a public golf course that is located outside of the city limits, but is only about a 5 minute drive from the far east side of town. This course is one of the best bangs for your buck as it is one of the cheapest courses to play at in all of Lincoln. And in my opinion, this course is as good, if not better, than some of the private courses in Lincoln.
This course is a some-what open layout, with a creek running by holes 5,6,8,9,11, and 13. Along with hazards on holes 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,11,13, and 14. There are greenside bunkers on almost every hole, and there are fairway bunkers on only three of the 18 holes at this course. So it isn’t a extremely challenging course as it plays 6,697 yards from the back tees. But just because it isn’t the most challenging course, doesn’t mean it isn’t a beautiful golf course that can provide you with game improvement, and a very fun round.
The condition of this course is pristine in my opinion. The greens here are always moderately fast but almost never bumpy and damaged. The fairways are smooth, mowed, and not covered in divots. The rough here is not very thick, and the range is an excellent place to improve your game.
This course is the home course for the Lincoln Lutheran golf team and it is my home course also. So I have played this course more than I have played any course. I definitely have a few tips to improve your round at Crooked Creek Golf Course. The first tip is if you are going to miss on one side of the course…miss right. Every single hole allows you to miss right, though if you miss left you can get yourself into a lot of trouble. Also this course can get pretty windy because it is very open, so always consider that when taking your shots. Other than those tips this course is pretty straight forward, it is just a fun time and good old fashioned Nebraska Golf. Enjoy this course just as I do every time I play it!
